OKay, I have my computer upstairs and currently run a 30 meter extension cable upstars from the phone socket to the Netgear Dg834 router and then connect it to the LAN port on my computer to get internet access.

I "upgraded" to BTMAX service last year, and since then I've gone from 2mb speeds to 1mb speeds. Obviously, I think the 30meter cable has some part in that.

I am thinking of going wireless, but I want to make sure I have the right impression.

The phone socket is down stairs, so I assume I connnect a filter to that socket and run a litle cable from the filter o the wireless router. Then the wireless router will connect wirelessly to my PC upstirs which will either have a USB dongle or PCI Wireless car in the computer to get access to the internet?

Is that correct. I just often read about people having wireles srouter having them connect to the LAN ports of their PC, and I thought that kind of defeats the purpose of the wireless setup.

Also, what's better for performance. A USB dongle or PCI network card?

If I have two or three PCs in the house, and only one printer how would I go about ensuring that both computers could print from the same printer?

thats seems about right ;)

you will need to connect the wireless router to a pc via the Lan in the beginning so you can setup the login details and wireless security (wep, wpa) etc.

i prefer using a dongle because i can move it around to get a better signal can't really comment on the pci card as i never used one.

to share the printer just enable it to share and the other pcs will have access to it but the pc its connected too has to be on, unless you buy a wireless printer adapter.
