Are IS lenses compatible with all the EOS range such as the 400D

Lets say i bought a EF-s 55-250 IS am i right in saying the image stabilizer will work fully with the 400D, i think i seem to have got it in my head the camera needs to be compatible too so i just need re-assuring

thanks guys

Yes. It's something that is built into the lens itself :)

LOL i thought so, but you know that feeling when something pops into your head and you think ERRRRRM (better known as brain farts).I learned with a K1000 and never owned a DSLR so wasn't 100% sure

Reason i asked was my dad upgraded to a 60D and we did some comparison shots using the IS lens . Needless to say side by side the 60D is very impressive. He's offered me the 400D with basic kit lens and 75-300mm F4.5-5.6 USM3 + canon grip for the price of a new kit bag (approx £100) should i snatch him up on the deal and gain my first DSLR?

*edit* we were looking at the Lowepro Magnum 200AW Shoulder Bag, you know if it's quite well padded ?
