Hey guys, heads up ignorance alert!

So I got a Lenovo Z500 laptop and wish to swap out the HDD for an SSD, can I still use the OEM installed Windows 8 that came with the laptop? If so is there somewhere I can legally download a copy of Windows 8 to boot from as obviously I dont have the disk, and also where do I get the product key from as there is no sign of it on any paperwork or stuck on the laptop?

Thanks for any help :)

as OEM copy is locked to your MOBO you could use samsung transfer software to put all date from one HDD to the SSD, you can how ever use such programs like keyfinder to get your product code from windows system. best thing to do find a friend with a normal windows 8 copy get there product key if you need to reinstall by disc use thiers too then when your on the desktop install skype and activate by phone it works everytime, ive lent my windows 8 out to all my friends in one purchase ;)

Ah its locked to the mobo nice. Ill look into cloning the drive thanks, just wonder if I can plug the ssd into the mobo in addition to the current hdd or whether ill need a sata to usb cable. Will have to open it up and see.

Thanks :)
