With all the new gpus and cpus apparently making an appearance this year. Would now be a silly time to buy a complete new rig. And I'm talking everything from mouse to monitor.

I haven't owned a rig since my watercooling amd 955 and 6950 which I sold in 2012 and now looking at the new cpus and gpus my head is in a swirl.

All honest opinions appreciated

New components are always around the corner. If we kept waiting we'd never buy.
How much are you looking to spend and for what purposes?

If you got anything now and its doing what you need then wait I suppose.

At the minute I've got a core 2 quad and a gtx 550 which is ok but really can't play some of the better games I'd like. I'm pretty itchy to play through the stalker games again with the misery mod. Never played crysis 3 and to be honest trying to play a FPS with a controller is doing my nut in lol.

I'll be honest I was looking at a 6 core socket 2011 as I'd like it to last me a long while with just the obligatory gpu upgrades every year or so :D

Oh and I'd be looking around 2k for everything. I'm not too fussed about watercooling again just yet. I'm also not keen on 4k at the minute. As long as I can hold 50 to 60 FPS on 1080p or even 1440 then I'd be happy.

Thanks stulid regarding monitors would I be better saving the 170 and using my current dell uh2312h to see me through until a better monitor can be brought?
