So I formatted my gaming pc and set it up.

I have a copy of Home premium but i installed it using a downloaded version on Win7+SP1 slipstreamed (i thought this would save me some time)

Now when i use my product key from my DVD it says invalid product.

Checking the MS website it says this will be the case. How utterly silly.

Anyway before I reformat, is there anyway i can get around this or shall i just suck it up and waste another 45 mins of my life :O

thanks.

Well it should work if it is the same type of Windows 7, ie the downloaded version is also Home Premium. I do it all the time, install a copy of Windows 7 HP SP1 using a USB stick and use the key from a retail version.

As far as I'm aware without cracking the copy there isn't a way around it. Is your copy an Upgrade version by chance? Rather than a full clean install version?

Well My version is a full W7 Home Premium.

This Version i have installed says its the same +SP1

:( confusion. I thought this wouldn't be a problem either.

Very odd, I'll link you to the version I download when I use a W7 Home Premium key (trust message incoming), if you have a good connection it might be quicker to download and try again than to do all the updates.

lol cut and pasted the key about 10 times and it decided to jsut activate..

:P thanks for the help
