Dune: Awakening

I was really surprised at the quality of it!
Really does look great in game in a decent base.

Bit disappointed with the ending of Chapter 2 lol return to x, talk to them then a window pops up "Congratulations........" Really??

No spoilers :D

Apparently because Funcom were a little too trigger happy with the massive amount of servers they deployed for the games launch, Server mergers are happening and as such everyones bases with hundreds of hours of progress are being destroyed.

Another Funcom self own, Good way to murder the game.

Is this game worth picking up in the Steam Sale? What's the gameplay like for someone that's mostly going to be playing it solo?

Oh wow! I forgot about this one. This one got dropped really quick even for a flavour of the month game.

@CHokKA Completely playable solo.

I'd say I got a good 100 hours of solo play out of it although it depends on how much of a completionist you are. There is no endgame right now though.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking as well, I like the idea that you can get the vehicles to drive and fly, and the base building looked pretty good too. I might pick it up, we'll see :D

I enjoyed it, it is worth playing but the end game is a bit of a kick in the teeth, especially for solo players, to get the crafting materials for tier 6 equipment you have to engage with tier 6 gameplay with tier 5 gear, as a solo player forget it its not possible, you need 2 other friends with you.

Once you got all your tier 6 gear there's no point anymore, you engaged with all the tier 6 content as a tier 5 so the game is over before you can enjoy your tier 6 gear.

It is possible but it takes a looooooooooooooong time. Titanium and Stravidium farming are ok but it's the medium spice blows that are a pain as they erupt randomly, You need to setup a base roughly in the middle of c-row in the deep desert and park your assault thopter there with storage module and build a lot of storage in your base with lots of spare compactors and not leave until you have filled up all storage with spice sand, Start straight after a reset on Tuesday.

My first route was to build the medium chemical refinery which is fairly cheap and can be done with Hagga Basin materials so refining stravidium would be much more efficient, Then the medium spice refinery, Then the large ore refinery and eventually the large spice refinery.

Took a lot of work but definitely doable solo.

That was pretty much where I stopped. Farming spice as a solo is not a fun endgame experience. My endgame was collecting all the unique blueprints. Only missing 2 of them now but they are the new tier 3 & 5 stillsuits which only drop on crashed ships in Hagga at 2.5% so I gave up on that :D

It's the fact that the spice blows are random that makes coordinating with friends very difficult if you want to use a sandcrawler as there seems to be no set schedule, Which makes sense lore wise but just annoying.

Its not that, as a solo player its getting the tier 6 metals, components and blueprints out of the desert testing stations that's impossible, i can just about manage desert caves but they only drop metals and even then its a very small amount about once in every 5 caves that you do, its 500 hours just to get enough metals that way.

The game is over at tier 5 as a solo player and they have deliberately designed it like that.

There's always the BIG PvE testing station, Usually in row C/D, That gives the various crafting materials and metals. I solo it multiple times per week but it is very difficult and takes ages, I have all T6 armour and weapons but that took hundreds of hours and fixing them costs all those mats so I rarely use them.

With 2 or more it would be a breeze.
