Dune Media Streamers

I've had the H1 variant since Christmas, worked great for most of the time playing everything I threw at it. It did developed some audio issues, the unit is currently getting replaced under warranty. When it was working it worked great.

I had it connected via ethernet to my Synology NAS upstairs.

I know some people have been having problems with 'DTS HD Master Audio' but you can get a third party patch which fixes this issue. Dune have said this will be fixed in the next firmware.

Great feedback, thanks.

Have you had any issues leaving with overheating when leaving it powered on 24/7? We have a WDTV ATM and I have to pull the plug as soon as I've finished watching it. It gets stupidly hot in standby, so I want to swap it for something else.

The Dune units do look the business to be fair.

No overheating issues at all. Leave it on standby when not in use no problems. Might be a different matter though if you are planning to installing a HD?

Build quality on the Dune HD Smarts are top notch. Ive had a WDTV, the optical out socket broke after 6 months use, the Dunes are a different beast to the WDTVs.

One thing I will say is make sure your amp/blu ray home cinema system has HDMi out if you want to watch media with Dolby True HD, DTS HD Master Audio. Optical out can't handle the bandwidth.

I have a Dune HD D1 and a Dune HD Duo, not had any problems with either of them and play everything I have tried to play on them.

I use mine mostly to play DVD.iso files as I like keeping all the menus and extras intact, I have 8TB of storage connected directly to my Dune Duo which the D1 has access too via my wireless network so I can watch all the files in another room.
