Dune : part 3 2026

Even more questions.. Didn't Chani hate it at the end of the last cause he took a trophy wife. How'd he manage to wangle that.

In the books Paul makes it very clear in the final confrontation that his marriage to Irulan is only for political convenience to cement his claim to the imperial throne. This is done quite poorly in the film because they wanted Chani to be an antagonist to Paul. In the book, after Paul kills Feyd-Ruatha, he strips the Emperor of all power, takes all his CHOAM holdings, and banishes him to Salusa Secundus. He hands out titles and lands to the Atreides and Fremen men. When he gets to Chani:

"No title for me," Chani whispered. "Nothing. I beg of you."

Paul stared down into her eyes, remembering her suddenly as she had stood once with little Leto in her arms, their child now dead in this violence. "I swear to you now," he whispered, "that you'll need no title. That woman over there will be my wife and you but a concubine because this is a political thing and we must weld peace out of this moment, enlist the Great Houses of the Landsraad. We must obey the forms. Yet that princess shall have no more of me than my name. No child of mine nor touch nor softness of glance, nor instant of desire."

"So you say now," Chani said. She glanced across the room at the tall princess.

"Do you know so little of my son?" Jessica whispered. "See that princess standing there, so haughty and confident. They say she has pretensions of a literary nature. Let us hope she finds solace in such things; she'll have little else." A bitter laugh escaped Jessica. "Think on it, Chani: that princess will have the name, yet she'll live as less than a concubine -- never to know a moment of tenderness from the man to whom she's bound. While we, Chani, we who carry the name of concubine -- history will call us wives."

Anyone got guesses as to who the samurai looking warriors in the trailer are? three theories so far: either a random planet of resistance to the jihad, warriors of ix (not known for close combat skills but they do go down faster than the sardukar in part 2) or maybe the Swordmasters of Ginaz (less likely due to the same apparent weakness against the Fremen)

Very much looking forward to this.

I watched a video that theorised it is the house that lead the resistance, a can't even remember it's a water world and they use anti suspensor technology so there's no aerial vehicles.Stilgsr nearly died, drowning in mud.....rescued by atradies soldiers......but tbh it'll probably just be part of a very cool battle montage of them conquering very distinct looking "other houses and planets" they can't go into that much detail , I mean hopefully they will ....lol

Dune wiki points to House Thorvald and the battle on Jericha.. who ever those pointed hat guys are they suck.... So :p

The fremen armour, I assume it's fremen by the weapons, it looks very 60/70s Vietnam US marine corp vibes... Is it just for wet planets? :p

But honestly I'm gonna go with a cool looking montage based on very distinctly looking different Armour styles and in extremely different climates/ecosystem to highlight the galactic scale of it all.

I hope we get a space battle.
Id love to see these huge floating hulks fire at each other.
And the Caladorian air force, not just thopters.

I can't recall what was in the Messiah book but I'm hopeful for some additional world building around the space guild, which should be an obvious antagonist, as spice is required for interstellar travel.

One of the main characters is a guild navigator in Messiah lol.

Oh man oh man oh man do I even watch the trailer? Is there any point if I'm going to obviously see it? Spoilers much (I sort of already know the rough trajectory...)? Hype much? Is the spoiler:hype ratio worth watching for? Pls respond

I enjoyed the first one but can't even remember the second. I'm not sure I go through it all. It came out in the year I was taken poorly. I might have to give it a watch again.
