Dungeon Defenders 2 (Early Access) is now released on steam, this will be a free to play game with a cash shop that only sells cosmetics and (so far) no pay to win!!

I was lucky enough to win a copy via a twitch stream and so far it's been very stable in solo/private mode and runs really smooth.

The game is heavily loot based with atm four different classes with solo or 4 player co-op. The game is a great mix of 3rd person combat with various skills and heavy Tower Defense.

If you enjoyed the first one you'll love this, very addictive !!

Glad to see a post about this here.

Been playing this for over a year throughout it's creation and it's been a blast, they've made vast improvements and are constantly adding things that make it even better.

Still perhaps around a year until it's officially released, unfortunately, (no official ETA on that, mind) though I have to say, if you liked the original Dungeon Defenders I think you'd find purchasing Early Access for this to be worth it, you certainly get your moneys worth. Just don't expect a finished product ;)

Dungeon Defenders was a great little game. Had me and a few mates hooked for a few months playing most nights. Never got very far in the game as we struggled to find good gear. Will be looking forward to this coming out.

Same here it was crazy addictive, I played up until some rainbow unicorn pets came out which made the game insane with the amount of stuff flashing on screen at once could only last a few minutes before getting a massive headache.

This is definitely on my watch list though.

Loved the first one, but just can't stomach paying for the early access. Hopefully it won't take too long to get released for the free-to-play model!

Dungeon defenders was great when it first came out then it turned into a DLC fest. Got really silly with the amount of DLC they released and you needed it to progress. DD2 will be no different, a complete pay to progress game of stupid proportions.

The game is in early access on steam yet you can already buy an upgrade collectors edition which comes with £130 of in game credit! What a joke that is. Won't be touching this rip-off with a barge pole.

I've heard it could be upto 12 months off release.

The version on steam is the pre-alpha, it's nowhere near finished and it's your choice whether to purchase now and back the developers or wait until release and play it for free.

Should you chose to buy it now you get access to the game and earn influence points daily which allow you to directly influence what goes into the game. The dev's will put up an idea they want to implement and the backers get to decide which is the best one.

There will be a cash shop, they stated it would contain cosmetic stuff and probably buffage item's like any successful FTP model. I'm sure they will charge cash for DLC addons/levels which is fair considering you get to play it all on release for free. The deluxe version you mention gives you $130's worth of ingame currency not GBP's worth.

I refuse to pay for anything pre-release. Developers get "lazy" when they have no cash incentive to finalize a game. See Dayz, Rust, etc...

The developers have already shown with DD1 that they will push DLC out at an insane rate and thats not just nice to have dlc or a large addon pack either, its essentials to progress in small increments.

130 pounds or dollars, thats not really the point is it, that is one heck of a lot of cosmetics from the ingame shop if that is all its for which we all know it wont be. More than most full price AAA games.

How can any game offer an upgrade pack for sale when the game is still in an alpha state! As for influence points, well that is just lazy and greed from the developers, pay to play our alpha game and you can express your views and ideas which we may or may not listen to? Is n't that what a normal beta test period is for expect you don't normally have to pay for the privilege?

The game may start as free to play but that won't last, it will be a money sink to get anywhere past the first few levels as the first one turned out to be.

Like I said before, I liked the first game to start with then the developers got greedy and just pushed more and more DLC out on people to the point where enough was enough, the first game was n't even free to play either.

Your acting like this is all something completely new, have you not seen the plethora of kickstarter's people actively throw money at without playing the game? Star Citizen anyone !! It's all down to choice whether you back a game and want to help shape it or wait and play it for free.

There is no indication of what price addons or maps or cosmetics of potions or what not's will be. As a gamer it's more about what this new version of DD will offer and whether it will be fun and so far it is just that, fun.

I'm not going to make any presumptions as to whether the game will succeed or fail, whether people should buy into the pre-alpha or if DLC will be it's doom!! but I will give feedback based on my actual experience ingame and if that helps great, if not fine.

I am not attacking your posts or views on this game and I would probably agree with you that it is fun to play right now if I had tried it but I know how the developers pushed constant dlc on people with the last game and that is now part of their reputation. It's not just my view, plenty of reviews around the internet saying how ridiculous the DLC got for DD1.

I am a gamer the same as you but I also don't like being taken for a ride with pricing and dlc especially and this game has the makings the same as the first for that in my opinion.

I never insinuated you were attacking my posts I'm not sure were that came from. I understand you have a strong opinion based on the previous game and have not disagreed with you on that point. If a developer goes down the route of forced DLC to compete or sustain the games longevity on it's player base I'd walk away.

Look, it could turn out to be a complete duffer of a game and fail miserably or it could prove to be a free to play model like Marvel Heroes that works fantastically. I just don't know why someone would want to write it off before playing the finished version and knowing the final game plan. No harm no foul bud.

To be honest my experiences with the first game and the ridiculous DLC-fest it became have put me off too.

I did really enjoy DD1 for a while. I'm sure this will be similarly fun (for a while) but past behaviour obviously is going to effect people's expectations of future behaviour.
