Dungeon keeper 2 (or 1)

Stuck on level 3 currently.

Not because I cant complete it, but because its not recognising my pressing the space bar to go to the next level :doh

Even re-loading the level and completing it again nets me the same result. :(

Reached level 18 of the FX version of Dunegon Keeper without any real difficulties but oh boy this one's a killer!

Anyone managed it yet?

In the original game it's pretty easy, but I don't know if FX makes it harder. In vanilla you just wall yourself in as soon as the game starts: extend the north wall of the pre-made dungeon west and east to meet the rock prominences. Stay there training and researching until the money is running low, then break out at the eastern end. Do not waste money on traps because it's a war of movement, and IIRC you can't build a prison until you capture one. There's one in the east if you start that way. Once you can build prisons the strategy is to grab every enemy you can and imprison them, aiming for skeletons. You don't have time to convert them, so don't bother with torture chambers. You want an army of 20+ skeletons. Then it's just a slog to clear the middle area. You need to do it quickly because money is an issue for the whole game. Have imps tagging every bit of land in sight, but make sure you are only fighting in one place: it's a big area and you can finish one fight before moving on to the next.

Finally there's a fortress in the north. It has a LOT of traps. But it also has a gem mine. It'll take a while to clear, but its' not hard.

Thanks for the tips. That is pretty much what I have been doing although was going for vampires rather than skeletons. But even when I have an army of fully trained dragons, vampires and dark mistresses I get my ass handed to me in the final fight. :(

I'm assuming that the FX version got a big difficulty increase over the original.

Anyone actually managed this? Tried again tonight and got my ass whooped again! :p

That is, level 18 of the FX version I mean. Big kudos to whoever can actually beat it! ;)

Must have plugged in about 8 hours into this level but I finally managed it! :p

Basically fought my way through to the gems area (after doing the same with the gold areas and training up my units) and turtled myself in with traps and doors. Then micro'd my strongest units against the masses of the enemy. When they got near death, I removed and healed them before throwing them back into the battle. It took a ******* long time but I don't recall the last time I felt like I had "achieved" something in a game! :D

must get back onto this.. i got up to about 13-14 thanks to Tefal implanting this badboy of a game back into my noggin :p but been held up with starcraft, black ops and real life or something like that!
