RPGWatch has conducted an interview with the U6 Project team to discuss their Dungeon Siege-powered remake of Ultima 6

RPGWatch: What most still impresses you about the game?

JS: The sheer scope of what we're trying to do is just amazing. We look at the original Dungeon Siege game, and then we look at our own maps and all the dungeons, and I think our world is like 25 times the size or something absurd like that. It's just so vast. Even with what little we've done so far, you still have probably, what, 30-50 hours of playtime? Every time I sit down to furnish another house and define another NPC's schedule, I just have to stop and think, wow. I have to do this another 300 times before we're done. Now that's impressive.

Ooh, Ultima... There's a name from the distant past.

I'm somewhat of the old skool when it comes to RPG's, so this thread was bound to catch my eye. :D I started out with the Bard's Tale on the Amstrad CPC and Ultima's 6 and 7 were part of my introduction to PC gaming. These two games overwhelmed my 19 year old mind with their sheer scale and depth when compared to their 8 bit cousins. I just wish they made games like this now...

Dungeon Siege on the other hand was good fun, if incredibly shallow and linear. However it looked good and if these modders can mix this with the depth of the old Ultima series, that would be something. All I have to do is find my old copy of Dungeon siege and chase down the Ultima 5 remake.

Thanks for the heads up on this project.
