Dungeons And Dragons 4e new player

Hey, I recently bought the 4e box for D&D without realising that firstly i have no friends who will want to play with me and secondly, have no experience, so i was wondering if there was any groups in the south London area which would be willing which would be willing to take on a newbie so I could learn the ropes, if not im willing to start a new group with people and learn that way.

Your timing is a little off - as per RDM above

However, your best bet might be to check the UK Roleplayers website - they have a "looking for group" sub-forum.

Not the best time to be getting into 4e

Unless you specifically like that edition of course. If you are really struggling to find a group local to you, try www.roll20.net

Nice to see there are some others in the know with D&D. Is anyone moving on to 5e? I've seen the PDFs on the Wizard site and had a little look, but not bought the Starter Set - I was tempted, just to see how polished it is - but we have started a new 4e cmapaign in the last few months and I can't see it ending any time soon!

Thanks everybody for the advice, GhostlyPea mottingham is a bit of trouble for me to get to, thank you though for the offer. I really want to try it out so i can see how it is though HeX maybe i will like it maybe i wont i have never played any D&D before

Have you tried any of your local universities? Plenty have gaming societies that encourage new players but will likely be age dependant due to location or safety rules.

Don't worry about 5e being released soon. Our group is still playing 3.5 as we don't like 4e

im not close to any universities, im stuck with public transport for now, I dont mind starting a whole new group if other people want to join, all i want to do really is learn how to play the game
