Duplicate file finder - Which is best?

I tried googling this a while back and there are way too many so called review sites. They pretend to be the best or free but when you download them they want money after installing the damn thing.

I need something to get duplicate photos and videos off PC. Problem is some of the older importing programs used to rename the files so some filenames will be different to when you insert memory cards and copy/paste etc.

Can anyone recommned the best program to use? If you think the program is excellent then I dont mind paying a few quid .

You can probably do all or most of what you want at the command prompt. I get funny looks when I use the command prompt, but when DOS was king and Windows embryonic you found it very powerful and configurable.

Thanks, I just tried this actually but theres no easy way to easily verify the files are the same. I cant open them from within the program to see. Would be great if there was a program where I can see the thunbnails as well.

You can open the containing folder. And it gives you enough info to make in informed choice on whether its likely to be the same.
