duplicate photos in photos app

Hi

I seem to have duplicate photos of some photos i have taken this last week or so, it's not on all of them which is weird.
Does anyone know why this might be?

Have you uploaded any to Instagram and edited the photo using Instagram prior to upload? As the default behaviour is to save the edited photo.

Actually I'm asking on someone else's behalf, but nothing been uploaded to instagram or edited. Will have to try taking some more photos see what happens.
