Where the fudge is it? I've got a 2.0 petrol Focus (2005) and I'm buggered if I can find the fuel filter location.

The Haynes manual doesn't even list it in the index or under servicing items, some people say its in the same place as the old focus, others say in the engine bay, either way it seems a nasty job once located. Some people say that the new focus doesn't have one!

I've seen a video of the old focus having its filter changed, but doesn't seem to match up with mine.

Any help gratefully appreciated (have searched FFOC without any luck)

Nr the fuel tank tucked up behind where the back seats are (on the underside of the car obviously)

I've been all round the fuel tank which is on the passenger side, I can see the fuel pump and fuel lines, but no filter. I know there is a bracket I'm supposed to see that holds it on. I've changed fuel filters on 5-6 different cars without a problem, but this one has me stumped!

That's where it should be.

Maybe someone has replaced it with a straight length of fuel hose - wouldn't be the first time I've seen it. Does the hose look newer than other hoses?

Sorry Barrie, bit confused by your edit, this still means that the focus has a non-serviceable/lifetime fuel filter? Thanks to AllParts for selling me one?!! Ah well I guess that has saved me a few quid. Cheers for clearing that up!

When I first saw the title of the thread "Duratec HE" I just presumed you had a Mondeo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Duratec_engine

Having a Mondeo myself and having changed the fuel filter I posted where to find the filter until I looked at your first post in more detail.

You could always check with your local Ford dealer just to confirm the filter is in the petrol tank but the fact you can't find it anyway and with the post on the link http://www.car4play.com/forum/post/index.htm?t=1529 it seems to confirm it's in the tank.

Stupid place to put a filter !
