i hope im posting this in the correct section, was this or cooling but thought here as better so im sorry if i was mistaken:P

anywaysss too the point, just purchased myself an antec 900 case and just wondering.... because of those 2x 120mm fans on the front it looks like it has quite a potential to drag buckets of dust into the case... so would it be benifical to buy 2 120mm dust filters... like these..

then all i would have to do ir take them out once a month and get the hoover on them :D

but does anyone know from experience how much they hinder the air flow through the case? would i have to set the fans to a higher speed to get the same flow as a lower speed with them?

is there any point or is it just a waste of about £6 :P

opinions and facts welcome :)

hehe :D should hve a novelty section on ocuk for stuff like this, random items saying what ya can do with them

Black Nylon Tights (2 pack) - universal size for all fan sizes, acts as an excellent dust filter- (1.99 exvat) - (2.34 inc vat)

LOL! ;)

rofl!!! wait ** guys joking or seriouse? tights!!!!!!! it sounds as if can work but it also sound like a little joke...

Of course it would work, but would probably cut down like 90% of the air being sucked in too :D

To be honest, all I do is just get a hoover nozzel and put it around my case every couple of months, does a good job :)

What about those cheap thin green pan scourers, they actually look like filter media for a start.

hummm was thinking about this whole tights business and about using tights for an air filter in a car (LOL!) :p but might actually be on to something there.

the only problem i could see would be that if you just had the flat filter on the front of the fan there isnt much surface area and would clog up pretty easy and then the fan would be doing **** all.... but thinking about that car intake again, when you get aftermarket filters they have a much larger surface being conical or what ever...

surely this would apply to tights for a computer, by increasing the surface area of the tights the less the flow will be reatricted yea? (hope my engineering are actually comming in useful) but if ya had something like these drawings woulnt they be much better? ofcours u must ignor the crudeness of my drawings.
only thing would be that ya have something stuck to the front of the case :P hehe

heres a concept of it :p

so shall i take your orders.... hehehe

but think the concept coul work with tights and it the filters were a bit more moddest in size :P

lol okies updat on this, i tried pulling the thinnest pair of tights over as tightly as possible over a 60mm fan and well it would certainly keep the dust from being sucked in...... because it almost completely destroyed the air flow!!!!!

had the filter off.... lots of air, put the filter on....next to nothing :(
