Dust or alternative... PS3

I downloaded Dust 514 on the weekend, partly because it was free but partly because I'm after a decent FPS.

I'm not sold on Dust yet, after only having played it briefly, but are there any recommended FPS out there that I should be investigating? I pine for UT2004...

You can't really judge dust 514 in it's current state as it's still in beta testing and might get more content added to it during this phase of testing (there were a few more battlegrounds (if that's the best way to describe them) added a little while before it came out of closed beta and it's now running on the actual eve online servers and not the server it was on in the closed beta).

It's not really that which bothers me, it's the whole skills tree and 'lose what you buy if you die' thing which is a bit off putting...

That is the beauty of it! That is Eve's niche, and Dust will always follow that ethos.

Asside from that, what about Battlefield?

Dust should be called Alpha instead of a Beta, it plays and looks terrible atm

While not quite like Dust or BF3, Killzone and Resistance might be worth looking into. And while it isn't an FPS, Starhawk is an excellent choice for large maps, vehicles, base building, etc.

I've just been playing Dust and there is definitely something about it that just doesn't seem right to me, but I cant put my finger on it...
