Your example is similar to how my case fan vent looks after about a month or two. I hate having my PC on the carpetted floor. :(
 
My PC was on a carpet floor too, and hadn't been cleaned for a while!

I knew I was going to be rebuilding it eventually, so I just left it :p
 
Recently did my system, didn't take pics but the rad was completely gunked up and the bottom of the case had a good layer on it.

Fan's where a pita to clean had to use some ISO and a paintbrush it was that bad, being a smoker doesn't help :(

GPU's apart from a bit of dust on the backplates where surprisingly clean!

Keep my case pretty clean. But like you,I smoke. Tipped my keyboard upside down to blow the dust out and could'nt believe how much fag ash came out. :D
 
I've gotta clean out my second rig at some point today. Not looking forward to it as its been 6 months since it was last cleaned. Main system in sig is cleaned regularly so stays pretty much spotless. Easy filter access on it really helps.

Put a plank of wood underneath it :)

We have an old Dell that probably needs cleaning, must be around 8+ years old!

I wish I had taken a pic now, a few years back I bought a pc second hand from an acquaintence ( not friend :p) and after discovering it died after a day I looked inside,

there was a solid wall of dust inside blocking the fans from inside, There was so much I thought it had created an entirely new lifeform and was going to eat me alive.

actually me and my friend took it outside on a sunny day and shook the fams clean, it made a large cloud, the likes of which I had never seen. Then later that day we watched "war of the worlds" and remembered thats how I looked, almost completely covered in dust.

to be completely honest a shovel would have been better... we had to pull large clumps out with our hands and some of it was pretty entrenched in there.:D

Asked to clean up a pc that came from a farm my mate wanted for one of his kids as a cheap starter. Opened the case to find webbing and dead mouse (iccy) cleaned and ready to go...
 
It's been 14 months since my last confession..... but it's not as has as I was expecting
