Dusty Hill of ZZ Top RIP

Sad loss.
I bought Tres Hombres when it was released, bought the other two and then collected from there.
One band I never actually got to see live.

RIP Dusty :(

Saw them at Donnington in 1985, which turned into one huge party and one hell of a night. :)
I think I've got every studio album but Tres Hombres is still my favourite.

Never seen them live :/

The documentary/movie on Netflix is pretty interesting, basically admitted if it wasn't for MTV they would have never made it as big as they did, fair play for saying it to be fair.

I've seen a band you haven't?!?

Pretty sure but hold on, Rids has just said Donington 1983, I was at most of them - checking.

  • Whitesnake.
  • Meat Loaf.
  • ZZ Top.
  • Twisted Sister.
  • Dio.
  • Diamond Head.
I wouldn't have paid to go see Whitesnake, Meat Loaf or Twisted Sister in a field.

RIP

I was never into live music when I was younger. I've got into it massively in recent years, mostly because of my daughter. I now look back at so many bands I would have loved to see live but never did.

I just looked it up and it was 1985 not 1983 that I saw them, they were headlining....

ZZ Top
Marillion
Bon Jovi
Metallica
Ratt
Magnum

I was there but by the time they came on I was completely out of it, Bon Jovi and Marillion would have had me drinking heavily so I'm going to give freakbro the benefit of the doubt because I don't remember seeing them.

We had a major bonfire going while Marillion were on and were so drunk we thought we'd have a go at firewalking - the soles on my trainers melted. :D
When they flew over in the Eliminator (suspended from a helicopter) I knew we were in for some fun. We managed to merge into a huge drunken group from all over the world and had an amazing night - the most fun concert I've ever been to
