it is that time when we look to replace our duvet. The old one has had a good innings, but is apparently too cold in winter and too hot in summer.

We tried replacing it with a new multi-season (2-piece) duvet from a retailer, however when we got the duvet home, it was the absolute loudest thing I’ve ever heard in my life - like trying to sleep under tin foil. Not helped by the missus being a fidgeter. We’ve had this a few months and both agree it is abysmally loud.

May anyone have any suggestions for a clip-together style all-seasons duvet that is silent please? Missus is allergic to down/feathers so it’ll likely have to be synthetic too.

I bought the cheapest synthetic duvet available from Dunelm recently. It was a light summer one, but they make other weights. I can confirm it does not make any noise. It's a nice duvet.

Think mine was soft as down microfibre from soak and sleep, perfectly happy with it, no noise. About 3 tog I think, house doesn't get cold. In summer I use the cover without the duvet in. I think the noisy stuff is somethingcell material they say is cooling but actually it's a static magnet.

We have a 6 tog (ish) Silent night anti allergy for summer and a 13tog down for winter.
We flip the one we don't want onto the guest bed (so unlucky if you come to stay in a heatwave lol)

Worlds apart with the down being heavy and the antiallergy being light as anything.

The multi season ones are just normal with a connector, often velcro, so nothing special.
If your going to need to store part of it anyway you may as well just buy separate duvets to suit your house/seasons.

I have bought the following
Wool - People love it, I don't like it too much

100% down (no feather) - loves it, can't say how much I like this its amazing, a bit expensive but its been going strong for 5+ years

microfibre - it's ok if you buy a good one, nothing like the above.

Get separate duvets and thank me later :)
This. It's the standard approach in some European countries, and we decided to try it out last year. 2 coverless double duvets on a king size bed.

Works brilliantly. No disturbing each other, no yanking the duvet from side to side because you both think the other has it all. And because each duvet is smaller, they fit in the washing machine.

We have slumberdown duvets, with a 4 tog (I think, or close to) for the summer, and a thicker (I think 10) for the winter. Cheap duvets & work well for us.

We bought one of these last year (from the "Bargain Box" - Baavet have very high standards so the bargains are virtually indistinguishable from full price). Best duvet we've ever had. Not too hot in the summer, not too cold in winter. We've had an extra blanket on top on the few days it has been sub zero this winter but other than that, no issues at all.

We use Night Owl coverless duvets, use two singles as I use a 4.5 Tog one all year round as I get too hot at night.
