A few pics from last Sundays airshow. I managed to get a good spot on the hill by the land warfare centre though I lost a lot of shots due to the crowd in front waving every bloody time a plane came close

All these were taken stitting down proving that you dont need to stand every time something goes past and thus annoying all those behind you (its amazing just how inconsiderate some people become when they have a camera in their hands!)

1) Belgian F16 and Spitfire tribute (hdr'ed to rescue poor exposure)

2) French aerobatic team

3) Same team peforming a not quite co-ordinated series of rolls

4) P-51D Mustang

8) Bearcat (probably the best piston engined fighter ever made)

Have you been HDR'ing 1 & 4?

I only hdr'd number 1, with number 4 I just tweaked the levels, the effect is just how the camera coped with a very shiny plane

high saddler, first nice shots mate second what equipment you using please ? i,m very new to photagraphy and went and brought a samsumg pro 815 in the mistaken belief that its 15x optical would be good for airshows (how wrong )what sort off upgrade do i need to get lovely ariel shots like that

These were taken with a Canon 350D and a Sigma 100-300 F4 lens. In my opinion an SLR is the only way to shoot fast moving subjects. The shutter lag on non-slr cameras like your samsung makes it very difficult to track objects.

That said you should still be able to get some decent shots of larger aircraft such as the B-17 and slow movers such as Harriers and helicopters. I managed to get some good pics of a lancaster using my old Minolta Z3 last year, though for every good shot there were a lot of bad ones!
