DVD-Audio with X-Mystique and Z-5500?

Hi,

I've got a couple of DVD-Audio discs recently, most notably the "Fellowship of the Rings" complete recordings. I can play these on my usual DVD player and get dolby digital only, because my domestic player doesn't understand the DVD-Audio format (described on the disc as "Advanced Resolution Surround Sound (48khz/24-bit)").

I started to wonder if it was possible to play it on my PC to access the higher quality sound tracks; my soundcard is an X-Mystique attached to my 5500's via optical cable. Has anyone done this? I rarely play DVD on my PC and currently have WinDVD 5 which only wants to play dolby digital. I downloaded the trial version of WinDVD 7 and that doesn't do the DVD-Audio either, despite it claiming to support it - the information icon always says "DD" with the dolby symbol. I was wondering if this was a sound card limitation. Does anyone have any pointers?

Thanks a lot for the replies. I've done quite a bit more investigation and the answer seems to be, amazingly, that there is no way for me to play my DVD-Audio discs on my PC at the moment. If I had a Creative card I could use their bundled player. I tried PowerDVD which also claims support but it doesn't work; it fails to obtain some sort of decryption key and there are loads of posts about it on various forums. Perhaps this is a case of copy protection getting in the way of a genuine wish to play a disc. Anyway, I have given up.
