Hello,

Is there anywhere that I can down DVD quality previews (legal clips etc), i want to see how much i can under-clock a mates SFF PC whilst still letting it decode DVD (well full 1080p HD at least)

I know there is on the Microsoft site but they are .exe files, and on Apple's site i think you need QT pro to download! I need to see if they can be streamed over his old switch or a decent gigabit is needed.

Any ideas peeps? Thanks!

Just google, 1080p clip or something. :) I will try this too and let you know how I get on.

Edit - Just use the Microsoft ones. All you have to do is extract the .wmv from the .exe. It does it itself you just choose where to put it etc.

Use a torrent client and select only the sample files. Different formats, encoder settings etc will require varying amounts of power. The MS demos are easy to play, high bitrate H.264 from a BD isn't.

I recommend you use DXVA. You can then under-clock as much as you want. As the video will be decoded using the graphics card, and CPU usage will be in the single figures (for me it is).

Also, Recent Ati cards automatically adjust clock frequencies based on what you're doing (eg. desktop, video decoding or 3D).

DVDs can easily be decoded on the GPU, as can 1080p h264 by using MPC-HC.
