Do you guys bin all cases? Keep all cases? Or something in between?

Have considered getting rid of most (aside from boxed sets with nice/non-standard cases) - on the plus side it frees up space, on the negative side if/when I move to a bigger property (currently in a flat) it might be nice to have them all on shelves, easier to find, easier for others to scan through the collection if you have friends round for a movie etc..

Anyway, what do you do with yours?

Musicmagpie + streaming services.

I Magpied my entire commercial music collection in favour of Spotify.

I keep my unsigned bands and music magazine CDs in a photo-style CD album and chuck the cases. I do keep each sleeve in the same pocket as each CD.

For film streaming, I have got Disney+ but I have also kept my DVD and blu-ray collection along with their cases.

For DVD's that came in standard cases, most of them got decased, the discs and inserts/covers stored approproately and the cases thrown.
For blu-rays, at least cheaper ones pretty much the same.

At some point I need to buy a lot of the sleeves you get in DJ cases and make a storage unit that has rails for them (or adapt a set of drawers).

You can get drawer inserts for the cases btw... though yeah I guess thin sleeves and some sort of storage system for them could be ideal.

I've actually got some of them from Ikea I think and they're a good way to convert a drawer for storage, unfortunately (or maybe not ;)) I've got rather a lot of DVD's and blu-rays ;)
I think I've got about 500 DVD's in DJ cases and about 300 blu-rays in "book" style storage at the moment.

As an idea of some of my storage, this is one of 3 drawers in a unit I made ~15 years ago (I made 2 the same and a larger version that had 8 drawers but turned out too big to move and I used the wrong runners*).
IIRC that drawer has the space for around 70 standard DVD cases with a bit of leeway as I wanted it to take box sets.

*Full extension runners are your friend when making storage units, and when I built the two smaller units I managed to get something like 20 pairs for ~£100 (only marginally more than the cheap ones).

That's pretty cool, though you've perhaps got double the number of DVDs/Blu-Rays that I have - I've only got circa 400 or so total. :)

Making some storage might well be a good idea. One thing I did see during lockdown was some guy in the US who made his own replica blockbuster video store in his basement, while obviously I don't think I could do one the size he made, it would be quite cool if/when I move into a house to not only have a cinema room but to have a mini blockbuster video style set up (some yellow shelves etc..),

I'd love a blockbuster style layout, and i'll be honest when ours shut down I did consider buying some of the shelving but it was too low density for my collection ;)
