DVD/Blu-Ray playback on a Linux machine...

I'm looking at getting an Acer Revo primarily for running XBMC and streaming content from my NAS but I'm wondering if it's worth getting one with a Blu-Ray player so I can use it for the rare occasions I want to play from a disc??

Since XBMC doesn't support Blu-Ray (from what I've read anyway) I was wondering how DVD and Blu-Ray playback is handled/supported on Linux??

I don't think it is supported due to draconian copyright licencing issues and the way the OS is opensource.
