please done slate me for posting, i did have a rummage arround the forum and didnt find much of help - hence the post.

I have a few dvds that are becoming very scratched and want to take a copys of them before it gets any worse.

I would say that im a fairly it literate person and used to use Gknot to rip said dvd and encode it to DivX.

Im sure though however, that times have changed and theres loads of wonderous applications out there that will do said action with a lot less effort.

Can anybody reccomend any applications either freeware, or retail (i dont mind) that may be of interest? - reason i ask, there appears to be a lot of pap out there that is 'supposed' to do it, and doesnt come close!

DVDshrink if you want to make a backup copy of your DVD including all menus etc.

Recently I've been using a program called DVDFab Platinum and up until last night I didn't know it was encoding while ripping.
I thought all my DVD's were DVD5 size :)
Works a treat.
