hi
a friend has bought a laptop, and she has used the dvd/cd drive a couple of times, now she has gone to use it and it says no dvd/cd present, any info on how to get it back,
thanks
ps has got vista home premium on it

this fix worked, but i had to repair/reinstall itunes afterwards, also i think power dvd had something to do with this so i uninstalled that too, no problems now

you're still on my blocklist so can't see what you've typed, usually the programs that trigger this problem are itunes and limewire

My DVD drive on the PC seems to come and go.... I usually have to do a re-start to get it to show!?! I've always put it down to Nero, as it only started happening after that was installed, but who knows!?!?! Nero won't be going anywhere near my new system, when it's up and running lol!

nero can be temperamental, but worth having if you can put up with it

I've got to the point that i just can't bare the thought of having it on my system... I used to like Easy CD Creator, but since that changed to Easy Media Creator it's all gone to pot. I'm actually thinking about going over to some of the free programs, to see if they're any better. The only thing i'll miss from Nero is DVD Shrink. :(

Think you can find dvd shrinking stuff online or in jbloggs' freeware list up top. ;)
