Hi all,
so, had a HP ProLiant Microserver running WHS2011 as a hyper-v guest running for about a year without issue.
I now want to start ripping my music cd's from the internal dvd-drive straight into my library, which should be straight forward enough.
However, it doesn't rip, always saying pending.
Checking the eventviewer i get error 7; The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block.
Now doing some digging it seems that it can be a pretty generic error and could point to hardware or software issues.
So, i replaced the drive for a known working one, and changed the sata cable.
After rebooting tried to update the drivers but they are already the latest ones and the error still appears in WHS2011.
I really don't think its a sata controller on the mobo as the drive seems to function normally on the host OS (WS2008 R2), with no such errors in the eventlog.
The hyper-v is set to drag through the dvd drive, which it does, and it displays what's on the cd/dvd that has been inserted. It just won't do anything with it.
I can obviously rip disks from another computer to the library on the WHS, but would like to get this problem sorted if possible.
Any ideas please?
