DVD drive not working after installing windows 8

It's a (taken from device manager) Pioneer DVD-RW 108 ATA Device

the device status is....

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

any suggestions ?

Go into device manager and delete the cd drive from there, then reboot and see if it works
