I have a windows 7 disc I've been trying to install on my dads computer.

The disc installed on my computer but on my dads it just freezes on starting windows, it doesnt load the windows sign, therefore it wont start.

I figured it was a DVD drive problem, he has 2 drives one was not connected. So I unconnected the first and plugged in the other one, started it up and it just has a black screen, but it is running but doesnt make the normal boot sound it does with the other DVD drive plugged in. So i re-connected other drive and it works fine. I have no idea why it wont boot up with the other drive plugged in, any ideas?

What type of interface are the drives using?
Are they IDE and is the hard drive also IDE? If so, are they using 1 cable or two?

My W7 64bit disc took about 10 mins to get to the disk managment bit when installing windows, hanged about with just the default background for no reason :s.
