DVD Drive Test Tools.

Hey guys,

Are there any free tools out there that can test DVD drives? I’ve got a suspicious drive here that I’d like to test…

I want to make sure it can read/write etc.

I know there used to be a tool that came with Nero, that I think performed a number of tests :rolleyes:

Dunno about testing DVD drives directly but how about using checksums? Choose a file to write to DVD. Obtain its checksum. Burn it to DVD and then obtain checksum again. Compare them. If anything has gone wrong, they will differ.

Then copy file back and get another checksum. If its changed again there's been a problem reading.

Are you verifying your disks after burning them?

Nero CD - DVD Speed - it's on my oem copy of Nero that came with my Samsung sata dvdrw.

Also check out CDCheck

Nero CD-DVD Speed can also be used separately, ie not with Nero installed.
