DVD Encoding problems

Hey all,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to put this in, but I wasn't sure if it was video in the right context for the photo and video forum.

So, I have been trying to encode AVI files to DVD format, I have used NERO's own encoding software that does it all in one, and I have tried 007 DVD Creator. Both have the same problem, they encode fine, but the sound on the dvd goes out of sync about 20 mins into the episode. I can solve this problem by converting the file using Xilisoft video converter, but this dramatically reduces the quality of the video.

So any of you have an ideas as to any software that could solve this problem, or if i'm doing something blatently wrong! :o

Thanks in advance

P.S. Mods feel free to move if i did get the forum wrong.

If you check the .avi, you will probably find the audio is vbr rather than cbr. Use something like VirtualDub to extract the audio to a .wav file, and then encode using the audio from this file instead of the one included in the avi
