hi guys,

i have a DVD of my brothers wedding supplied by the company who filmed it.

at the end of the DVD is a short musical montage which i want to extract and email to someone.

when i explore the dvd it is a number of VOB files on it, but thats it.

how do i go about removing the section i want?

thanks

g

You can use a program like VideoReDo that will read .vob files and allow you to clip a section and save as a mpeg ,avi etc. Then you could use a proggy to encode as a .wmv to send .

if that doesnt work I have recently found Streamclip @ http://www.squared5.com/ - its a cracking bit of free software - it can do loads of inputs and outputs. You can import you .vob and export as anything you like really. If what you want is more than one .vob it will stick them together before it converts them too.

Not too sure if I am allowed to post this, but... The best programe I can think of for this is DVDdycriptor (not sure what version they are up to), and you can switch it to stream processing mode, and then extract the stream you want, and then you can get any Mpeg2 editing programe to extract the audio to whatever format you want. All the info you are looking for is at www.doom9.org.

I think there's a program called winavi video converter which will allow you to re-encode the VOB files in avi's etc.

Wierd question, what was the name of the company who did the wedding dvd?

You can just drag the last vob file off the disk onto the hard drive and then use the free program virtual dub to cut off the bit you want and compress with h.264 into an avi file.
