My hi-fi doesn't work anymore, so I need a new one.

Speakers aren't really a concern with a new one as I already have a decent set of these. But it'd be nice just to be able to hook them up as extra ones. I'm not bothered about cassette playback either as I've lost most of my cassettes.

Okay - It has to have these features:

*DVD player
*5.1 Dolby Surround
*Analog audio input (So I can connect my TV or PC up to it, this is a dead must have)
*Be a nice small size (I don't want a huge hi-fi at if all possible)

These are the features I'd like it to have, but aren't too bothered if it doesn’t have them:

*DAB digital radio
*Sub Woofer

Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestion. The unit is a little pricey for my likings though (Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place?).

I've found this here from looking at all the usual high street suspects:

Google GOODMANS HEC142 Hi-Fi Surround Sound

What's nice is it has a DVD recorder with it as well. The input panels I want are at the front though, which would look a bit messy- I guess I could put up with that if I can't find anything else.

Yeah, I've been reading around. I figure that'd be a silly idea to buy something like that.

From what I've gathered reading around the internet (I'm a complete novice at this, apart from a few bits), it's best to get a good amplifer and then connect everything upto that.

I've just got a Sony Hi-fi at the moment (dvd player with 5 disc changer - That's the bit that's not working anymore). So the speakers are all the same with that, they're pretty decent speakers. I want to spend around 250-300 at most on an amp. I'd like to have around 5+ inputs for it and it to output dolby 5.1- But I guess if I'm going to be buying a decent one it'll output 5.1 anyway.

Okay, I'm going to go for the Denon AVR1906 (AV Receiver).

It's a nice price for what I'm willing to pay, it also means I can get a nice DVD recorder to go along with it (I think it's the best way for me to play music and movies as well as record TV). After a while I'll get one of those cool new DAB radios to plug in with it.
