Is there a programe that is simple to use yet effective in converting Dvds into Mpeg 4 format just realised we have bought our youngest a portable dvd with hard drive but it doesnt accept standard TS_Video and TS_Audio file structure.. If someone could recommend such a programe (pref freeware) then I would appreciate it

Thanks for looking in

once you've got the files onto your hard drive, use autogk to convert to xvid, set it to 700mb files or 1400 if you want ac3 audio

You will need a program like, (dvd converter is it?) which converts + takes out hte copy protection. from the dvd and puts them onto your hd as .vob files.

you will then need a program like autogk as bledd says to then convert to avi or whatnot.

Another 700MB just for AC3

Personally I'd recommend a minimum of 700MB/hour including AC3 audio with a fixed width of either 640 or 720.

well if you're using say 128kb/s lame mp3 (doesn't sound that bad) then 700mb for a 90min video is generally acceptable, especially for playback on a tv

if you were to use ac3 on a 90min file that and forced it to be 700mb then the video would be pretty shoddy

that's what i was getting at, just didn't word it very well

AutoGK is an excellent bit of software...very easy to use, it just works!

I personally think it is better than HandBrake having used both of them...:)
