dvd opens then automatically closes ?

had to replace my motherboard and since i have if i open the dvd drive it opens as usual then shuts straight away.

anyone any ideas whats going on ?

Have you got an add on front bezel on it or anything? sounds like the button is sticking to me. I'm presuming you've done the obvious of checking the IDE (or SATA) cables are plugged in properly.

cant see the button is stuck, will double check and cables were ok but will also double check them.

thankfully still got all me fingers

I had a drive that did that - never did find out what caused it. Then one day it stopped working completely

i wish my drive automatically closed for me

would save me having to press the close button all the time.

if u're quick enough to get a dvd loaded in a second b4 it shuts without damaging u're self, dvd or the drive

Man that would rock... try putting on the members market... im pretty sure u would get more than retail value for it... considering it a *automatic*

problem sorted, dodgy sata cable, swapped it over and all is back to normal can load dvds without fear of losing a finger or 2
