dvd playback on windows 2000

Hello all,

I want to play a dvd on a windows 2000 PC but its just not working. I have tried vlc, media player classic, windvd and it loads the dvd with no problems but when it get to the menu it just crashes.

I have no idea what the problem is, so any help would be much appreciated. The dvd works fine on XP. Oh, and I don't want to pay.

Is there anywhere I can get a free dvd decoder or anymore programs I can try?

Its not the disc - that works fine in other machines. I was thinking it might be the drive but its really strange that it can get to the menu screen and thats it. Surely if there was something wrong with the drive it just wouldn't play at all.

This is such a frustrating problem.
