DVD Playback?

Anyway, is it just me or do DVD's appear of less quality when running on PC monitors?

I have a Samsung 22" DVI 1680x1050

I have no idea if it's a dvd decoder problem or whatever. DVD's wont play in Media Player but will in VLC.

Will installing a proper codec fix this?

I have ATI 8.3 drivers and a 3870 on XP Pro.

A DVD is SD same as your TV signal, your trying to watch it on a Monitor thats is set to above 720p HD (1280x720) so it will look crap.

WMP wont play a DVD unless you have a License so you would need install another player like PowerDVD, then you can play DVD's in WMP.

Try lowering RES and see if its better but some LCD's dont look good at their non Native RES (guess yours is 1680x1050 default above).

Get the Kazaa Lite codec pack and use Media Player Classic to play DVDs.
