I've just bought a DVD recorder. What is the best way to copy videos ?
Can I use a single scart lead from VCR to DVD ? And how long does it take to format the disks first ? Is this necessary ?

Will a DVDR disk only get 2 hours of a video on it ?

1 - Yes but be aware if they are protected (macrovision) video tapes (eg Disney, Warner Bros) then you won't be able to copy them without a device in between.
2 - You shouldn't have to format a disk but you will nedd to finalise it to play in another player.
If you use +/- RW's then yo ucan reformat the disks to use again.
3 - Your recorder should be able to do up to 6 hours (normally). Just because the disks say 2 hours on them doesn't mean you can't squeeze more out of them. However, I would experiment with the settings to see what you're happy with. I'm happy with 6 hr recording for day to day stuff but football needs to be recorded on 2 hrs. I've just transferred a camcorder film to my hard drive on a 2 hour record but the 4 hr would have done.
