Hi all,

Im looking for a DVD recorder with an inbuilt freeview tuner. I've seen the Panasonic DMR-ES20, which I do like the look of for £139, but theres one small problem. I'll also be using the player for music, and I need a digital co-axial output to connect to my external DAC, which unfortunately the Panasonic doesnt have, damn! Are there any other suitable recorders out there that do, for less than £200 ideally!

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I'm sure it does have an optical output, I bought one last week but its not hooked up to my amp yet. I'll have a gander tonight and post back.

EDIT- the Panny has component output too (I'm sure about that one :p )

Are these Pannys reccomended then, What is the one without freeview called. So it has component out optical. Might get one.

DMR-ES10 i think, and tesco were having a clearout of them last time i was in there for £109

Only had mine a few days but I would highly recommend one. If I had to have a grumble it would be that moving through the TV guide to select what you want to record could do with being a bit quicker and smoother. I sometimes think my button press hasn't been recognised so press it again only for the menu to jump a couple of rows instead of one.

For me having the freeview and therefore the built in 7 day TV guide is well worth the extra £30. I love being able to just bring up a table of everything thats on, select it, hit enter and again to confirm and thats it. By doing it this way it also adds the title to your recording, a handy feature if your like me and forget what you've recorded.
