DVD Recording going wrong

This has happened twice now. I record a programme in order to watch it the next day. When I come to play it, picture and sound are ok for about 5 - 10 seconds and then the screen goes totally black and the sound becomes really muffled and that's the way it stays for the rest of the disk.

It has happened on 2 different disks so I don't think that is the problem.

They are DVD-RAM disks but usually record things perfectly, so don't know if that can be blamed.

Anyone any ideas?

You dont say what recorder you have . But using DVD RAM I take it you must have a Panasonic. I have two Panny DVD recorders , ES10 & ES20 and both are rubbish at recording now . The ES10 wont record on any media without an error and wont playback any of the stuff I recorded on it despite hardy ever been used . Utter rubbish for the money and I thought I was making the right choice after buying a panasonic camcorder & plasma screen . I have just recently bought as a replacement 2 Lite-on DVD/HDD recorders , under £100 each and they are great . Mind you one needed a new hard drive in a matter of hours ,so I replaced it with a Samsung and have had no problems since . These things are so much better and simpler to use .Just press the red button and all your stuff gets recorded to HDD , if its any good you can transfer it to DVD , which is multi-write [ writes to all media ie +/_/RW].When I consider how much I paid for my first pany writer ,the es10 cost £340 . What a waste of money . One of mine had a new laser fitted after a few months , this may be a cause of problems with your.

thanks rick - think i may go down the hdd / dvd road now....

it is a panny too - and it's only ever gone wrong twice and i mostly use dvd ram anyway, so the fact it was twice on dvd ram could just be a red herring
