DVD Region coding on DVD recorders?

Hi,
I'm living partly in the US at the moment and was wondering if anyone knew if DVD recorders force region encoding with recorded DVDs?
I'm looking at connecting a DVD recorder to my Sky+ box so that I can take over DVDs to watch when I am abroad.

Thats a good question, most recorders record as mpeg and as such i dont think they can be region encoded, but thats not to say that some kind of encoding could not be added to the actual disk during the recording process, so i would be interested to find out for sure..
