DVD region mega-confusion

Built a new rig recently and have hit a snag with trying to play DVD's. It keeps saying I have no region changes left and that it's locked on Region 2. Firstly, this is rubbish because I did have changes left. And secondly, the DVD-ROM and OS were purchased here in the USA.....so why is it locked on Region 2  Also, the one DVD-ROM I had stopped working so I installed a new one - and I have the exact same problem.

I just want to set it to Region 1 and watch my movies. I don't really care about the few Region 2's I have that much. This whole region thing drives me nuts - it doesn't make any bloody difference and they should just scrap the whole idea!

there is a software called region killer or sumthing that will bypass the lock, do a google

Just tried and it doesn't work still :(

AnyDVD works, but it's only a trial and then costs $50

region Killer works fine for me.

It kinda acts like it's going to work - I don't get the message saying the player is locked. But then it just doesn't play

i use remote selector (google it) to play my region 1 dvds on my region 2 dvd reader; i dont know if its relevant but i use powerdvd as my playback software, ymmv.

gl !

i suggested rpc1 above (use it with dvd region killer)

or save all that hassle and buy anydvd, its really awesome software
