DVD Ripper

Hi i have been asked to make a basketball promo video for a friend who is trying to go pro in french leagues. He has given me 3 DVD's of his game footage for me to make a montage with. But i need to rip the DVD's to a raw AVI (or something editable in Adobe Premiere) Anyone know of a free, legal piece of software that would be able to do this?

I've never used Adobe Premiere, but it should be able to import the DVDs directly, unless the DVD's have some sort of protection on them.

DVD Fab is good for ripping dvd's, there's a legal free version.

I use Handbrake.
