i have a dvd from a wedding that has 5x 40 minute videos on it, whats the best tool for ripping each one seperatly, so i can encode each on as an avi

the only part i need help with is getting the vobs out from the disc, i can do all the avi part myself in vdub

dvddecrypter does the whole disc or biggest title only

i've tried the programs on clonead.co.uk , but they can only do the vobs one at a time, so it invloves a lot of user intervention, i'd rather tick the ones i want -all at once

Why don't you just drag and drop the vob files you need?
I doubt that will work :p

Use DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode to rip each Input (e.g. VTS_02) & or indvidual Chapters into different folders. Then use AutoGK to convert to DivX or XvidD.

DVDShrink method also works, but I think above is better because from what I've found, setting up AutoGK to work on many files is faster :D

For other methods + guides, check this site out

I think you're all missing the point here.
Depending how this original DVD has been made, the 5 x 40 minute videos are going to be spread over several VOB files and will be virtually impossible to extract each video to an AVI. (can be done but a pain in the butt)
However, my Pioneer DVD/HD recorder will take each AVI and when making a DVD will put the AVI's into their own VOB file.

My question to you bledd is -

Load the DVD into your PC and open up Explorer.
Go into the VIDEO_TS folder and see how big the VOB files are.
If the first VOB reads something like VTS_01_1.VOB and its nearly 1 gig in size then all the VOBs are stitched together.
If on the other hand you see something like this (example) -

VTS_01_0.BUP (14kb)
VTS_01_0.IFO (14kb)
VTS_01_1.VOB (120 mb)
VTS_02_0.BUP (14kb)
VTS_02_0.IFO (14kb)
VTS_02_1.VOB (160 mb)
VTS_03_0.BUP (14kb)
VTS_03_0.IFO (14kb)
VTS_03_1.VOB (345 mb)

and so on they you may be in luck.

tell me what you see.

Also when you play the DVD what do you see in the menu?
Do you see the 5 seperate films that you can choose seperately?

i'm using dvddecrypter now with filesize limits set to none in IFO mode, but its still a major pain that you can't set it to rip them all in one sitting

If it is 'your mates' wedding DVD then you don't need a decrypter because he wouldn't have encrypted it.
You can drag and drop all the VOB's via Windows Explorer.

Can you answer my question in post #7 so that I may be able to guide you?
