DVD Ripping

Hi Guys

What software do you suggest for ripping DVDs to Divx format for storing on my hardrive???

Must be Windows 7 compatible

I use the full Gordian Knott. But i've also used autogk and handbrake.

Never had an issue with audio sync with any of them

Handbrake here, But I'm on XP. Not sure about its compatibility with Win 7

It works fine. All the ones i mentioned above work with Win 7

I have never had an issue with AutoGK in the past. Not used it lately though.

I've used Handbrake on XP and it works OK, but the quality seemed to be crap for me even when I put the Bit rate up.

dvd shrink not sure if that does excatly wat your looking for tho its a great app

Not sure if it is Windows 7 compatible and then if I remember correctly I would need another App to convert to Divx/Avi etc

Dvd shrink takes the vob files form a full size dvd and shrinks them to smaller vob files. So essentially you can then burn the dual layer dvd onto a single layer disc which is common place within the home.

Handbrake is good I use that on Win 7 64bit with no issues. Even has preset outputs which I find handy for converting for my iphone 4.

Use a piece of software (unsure if I can mention the one I use) to rip the DVD to your hardddrive and decrypt it. Then just AutoGK to convert it to XviD or DivX format - I prefer XviD myself.

Handbrake is essentially a video convertor. You select your video source, and then your output and let it run, in basic terms.
