DVD ripping?

I think you can as long as the software doesn't circumvent copy protection... Which is present on most commercial DVDs.. ;)

Actually, as far as I'm aware, its not illegal in the UK. Its specifically written into law in the USA that you can't circumvent copyright protection to make personal backups, but I don't think thats been tested in the UK. Someone feel free to correct me?

I rip all my DVD's, I hate being penalised having to watch 60 seconds of annoying and repetitive anti piracy ads on every legit disc I buy. Annoys me no end, obviously I don't bypass copy protection though ;)

Plus I prefer to use my PC as a media hub for streaming, I'll happily get up at 6am and work out for a couple of hours but I'm too lazy to change discs, work that one out. :p

I have a panasonic dvdr recorder and have duped a vhs down onto a dvd+r and finalised it on the unit.

But windows and mac os both tell me the disk is blank, but it still plays in the recorder.

Looking at the disc it's definately burned the data- what software can I use to just extract the raw data from the disk ?

I use MakeMKV, brilliant sortware, got all my DVDs ripped to my HTPC now. DVDs are out theway in the loft, no stupid ads and crap to watch, just straight into it :)
