DVD Rom - Seen in BIOS but not in Windows

Ok,

So i've been a tad naughty and moved a HDD over to another rig without re-installing XP...

Anyways, everything works fine apart from my DVD drive - it shows up in BIOS but not in windows. I've tried uninstalling the IDE channel drivers and re-installing - but still no joy.

Anyone got any other ideas please?

Not to sound silly, but have you checked the jumper settings on the DVD drive ?

Worth a try, but i'm pretty sure they are fine, as BIOS is seeing them.

I'm thinking its a Windows issue...

It be fixed.

The wondows driver needed to be update for the chipset so it coudl see the drive.

Luckily i had a pen drive for the driver, so alls good!
