DVD RW 2 / ver 1.1

hi,

i am trying to back up some of my files to DVD however i am having problems with using the DVDs i bought.

is this because of the type of DVDs i have? do i need a certain type?

can i update my DVD burner drivers so that it can use any DVD?

or is my drive just gone AWOL

i just bought DVD RW 2 from TDK

i have used ver 1.1 before

it says on the front that its DVD -RW

i just tried to update firmware but its not working

it says "0 drives updated, unknown error"

i got it off here:

i also downloaded the utility to check if i need to update the firmware, that worked fine and it told me i need to. but it wont let me!

ok sorted it

amazingly it would not work becuase i had a disk in the drive

OK i have updated the firmware, no problem.

however now i cant record anything. i don't even have the "send to" option when i right click a file. i thought it was because the option to allow recording was not selected in device properties. however this option has completely disappeared.

it can read DVDs and Cd's but the option to record has completely disappeared!

what is going on??
