DVD; Sound but no Picture

Hey guys, girls and those who have yet to decide, I'm in a real dilemma. My DVD players have stopped showing me pictures, all I get is sound as stated above. Here's what I've done so far;

1) Re-installed DVD player software: Cyberlink 7 and Nero 5
2) Updated graphics driver to 7.1 (Latest I think)
3) Systematically removed video codecs incase something was interfering.

Really am stuck now at this stage and I've had no luck so far. Only a few days ago there was no problem. The only thing I've done in the mean time is to install Hellgate:London.

Operating System is XP Professional Service Pack 2 Hardware is as stated in the sig.

What Hauppage device is that with the yellow exclamation mark on it?

I would suggest downloading the VideoLAN (VLC) media player...seems to play EVERYTHING you throw at it, with or without codes. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

It's the WinUSB, mostly used it for watching tv on the laptop but it keeps giving me driver problems on the computer. Will try VLC and see what happes (Hopefully) and let you know if it works.

Nope, VLC does not show any picture either.

Righto solved, un-installed everything which remotely looked like it could even access a DVD.

Next I removed all the video codecs I could lay my hands on.

Then, for good measure, I reset Catalyst Control Center to defaults.

Finally, I re-installed VLC and I can now watch DVD's again and in their 5.1 surround for free!

Haven't figured out what went wrong though but hopefully it won't happen again.
